Simona Cipriani - Guest International Teacher Trainer

Simona Cipriani directs The Art of Control. She is a Teacher/Trainer with the USPA, and a Certified Instructor of the Pilates Method for more than 17 years. Simona studied extensively with Romana Kryzanowska at Drago’s Gym in New York City, where she taught by Romana’s side for many years.

A former dancer for more than forty years, Simona started performing professionally at the age of fourteen in Italy, throughout Europe and the United States. She has appeared in commercials and on television presenting The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning several times.

Simona has worked with many dancers, athletes and movie actors such as Glenn Close, in the Westchester and Connecticut area for the past 17 years. As a ballroom dancer, she participates frequently in competitions, and is a consistent first place winner. Simona studied at Juliard and holds a B.F.A. in Dance from SUNY at Purchase. She has been a faculty member of SUNY Purchase since 2006. She is also a licensed massage therapist in Connecticut and New York State. Simona was a member of the massage therapy team at the Olympics in the Athens Summer Games in 2004, and the Torino Winter Games in 2006. She was also the massage therapist for director Darren Aronofsky during the production of “Black Swan.”

Simona has co-written two articles with Dr. Joseph E. Muscolino on Pilates that have been published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies (jbmt). She has been a Feldenkrais practitioner since 2009 and has also graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City in July 2009 as a Health Counselor.

Simona Cipriani has been a professor at the State University of New York, Purchase College since 2006, she is currently teaching in the Dance department, the Physical Education department and the Continuing Education department.
